Korban Shabbat is a loose, free-form, Friday Night experience that is Jewish in content and feeling.
Adapting, adopting and appropriating styles from multiple communities and perspectives, no two Korban events are the same.
Used colloquially to mean sacrifice, Korban is a Hebrew word whose English translations have obscured its central meaning: an offering that is brought for the purpose of drawing nearer to others and to God.
Meeting in various locations in NYC each Korban Shabbat is determined by the offerings brought by those present. If what is offered is self, heart and willing engagement, Korban will be a holy community, one in which God's presence is brought close.
